Samsung launches first 40-nm 32-GB of memory for servers
Samsung announced today the most capacious memory in the server industry. The new DDR3-ins doubles the capacity of previous generation: now the memory of 32 GB, while the power consumption remained stable. They are done on 40-nm process technology on a single module which accounts for 36 dual chip with a bandwidth of 4 Gb / s, which is also twice the previous flagship model.
In AMD explain that the dual server with a memory can support up to 384 GB. Now, for this volume, you can use six modules on a 32 GB instead of 12 to 16 GB. The result – an increase in speed (from 800 to 1066 Mb / s) while reducing power consumption by 40%.
The mass production of the new memory will begin in April. And in the second half of this year Samsung plans to acquire 30-nm process technology for both server and desktop systems.
